Wesport Civic Offices

A stone plinth is formed, a piece of made ground establising a new datum for the main public concourse of the building. This datum both relates and connects with the surrounding streetscape drawing the public into the building, mediating between the various levels of the site. All the service accommodation is located in the plinth. The offices are located beneath a large overhanging roof structure that cantilevers out to define the extended entrance steps. The glazed walls of the offices open to the concourse, lit from above through a series of large oculi located in the roof.
